On August 14, 2010, The ParkCity Club was yet again the venue of another fun and exciting event called the GetActive Fitness Challenge! GetActive is a group of personal trainers who have been appointed by The ParkCity Club to give expert workout and physical training advice to club members who need additional help in their fitness goals.

The fitness challenge event was conceived as an event to introduce the GetActive trainers to our club members and Perdana ParkCity staff whilst giving all participants a really, really good workout. The challenge was a challenge course around the main facilities of The ParkCity Club. Participants were required to run the challenge course which consisted of five different “challenge” stations, where they were required to perform lunges, burpees, push-ups, standing jumps, crunches, jumping jacks, mental puzzles, and running or swimming in the pool. The participant who would be able to finish all the challenges in the shortest amount of time would be the winner.

The second batch ready to give their all
Eager participants turned up at 9 am for the roll-call and introduction to the trainers. The trainers then briefed the participants on what was required of the participants for this challenge. Soon after, the participants were herded to the starting point, where they were identified and given contestant numbers. They were then divided into groups of threes and fours, and they the groups started separately.

It was fun to see some participants already start to pant like crazy after just the first challenge. Others who were totally gung ho at the beginning, came to the tiring realization that the subsequent stations had even more difficult challenges than the previous ones. Even so, the challenge was filled with fun and good cheer, despite some of the challenges pushing some of our Perdana ParkCity staff to the edge of their physical capabilities. It was really fun to see that even our pregnant staff participated and completed the challenge, albeit with modified and simplified challenges. Even one of our Muslim staff participated in the challenge while fasting. Impressive indeed.

After the grueling but fun challenge, the participants and organizers congregated at the Pavilion, where delicious sandwiches and cold juice were served. Needless to say, after a challenge like that, our participants were only to happy to wolf down the food and drink. The GetActive trainers then explained to us the purpose of some of the challenges and highlighted how the challenge exposed the fitness levels of all the participants. Then it was time to announce the winners. The winner of the male category was Dr. Peter Ch’ng, a resident of Zenia. The winner of the female category was our very own Perdana ParkCity staff, Christine Wood. They both recieved a free fitness consultation and personal training session at The ParkCity Club gym with the GetActive personal trainers.

All smiles despite the muscle aches!
It was certainly a fun Saturday morning and we urge more of our club members to find out more about how they can make full use of The ParkCity Club for all their fitness needs. For more information, please call The ParkCity Club at 03-6280 7770.

“In Realty”, a popular Astro Awani (Channel 501) TV talk-show on property and interior design, recently visited Desa ParkCity to find out just why we are fast becoming recognized by many as the best place to live in KL. Perdana ParkCity Sdn Bhd’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Ms. Susan Tan, was on hand to explain to hosts Mr. Syed Faradino Omar and Ms. Linawati Adnan, just what makes Desa ParkCity such a memorable and livable township.

The interview was held at the Show Gallery at The Waterfront and also at The ParkCity Club. It certainly was a fun time working with the TV crew since it isn’t everyday that one gets a chance to be under the bright lights of broadcast television! This segment is part of their focus on Desa ParkCity as “KL’s Little Community, Big Living.” It was fun to see how the professional TV crew deliberated on how the interview scenes would be shot on the fly with the hosts and just shot the scenes with hardly any retakes. The hosts of the show also interviewed one of Desa ParkCity’s residents and the segment will feature her house as part of the ID segment of the show.
We would like to thank Astro Awani for featuring Desa ParkCity in their program. Please tune in to Astro Awani (Channel 501) on July 29th at 9.30 pm to see how Desa ParkCity is the best place to live on TV!
